Great Kwararafa Kingdom in the New Age
Great Kwararafa Kingdom in the New Age
His is about to be redefined as the historic Kwararafa kingdom is experiencing a rebirth, in order to become relevant and once again become great among the nations of the world. According to Dr. C.K. Meek in his book “A Sudanese Kingdom”, “in the past centuries the Jukun Empire was a loosely knit confederacy composed of a number of semi-independent chiefdoms. The heads of which recognized the supremacy of the king of Api (Kororofa) and later of Wukari, as being the foundation and highest example of divine kingship. If a purely religious parallel were drawn the Jukun king might be likened to the pope of Rome and the heads of the subordinate chiefdoms to the cardinals and Bishops.”
The renaissance of a kingdom is strongly determinant on her culture. According to E.A. Oke a social anthropologist, “because culture consists of learned patterns of behavior and beliefs, cultural traits can be unlearned and learned anew as human needs changes.”
For us to once again come together, we must redefine our beliefs and patterns of behavior. Unlearn and learn anew some cultural traits as we can see human needs change. We can’t afford to remain behind. We must change the tide of history or else history and God will never forgive us.
We have detoured, derailed from paths to destiny. The destiny of greatness and international recognition. We have something the whole world cultures don’t have. That is, an enviable culture of theocracy, being ruled and governed by God through a king, a powerful king.
Let’s learn the new pattern of living. Theo-culture, the way of life of a group of people with a complete design for living provided by God.
Jesus is God made manifest; the Holy Bible and the Quoran record the quaint deeds of this great man from Nazareth.
History recorded in the 1800s one Mallam Ibrahim, Mallam Yahaya and Mallam Hamza who pioneered an Islamic sect called the Isawas or Ansa. These people preached openly and boldly the life and second coming of Jesus Christ; but the mainstream leaders will not let them be. Their version of the gospel was vehemently attacked, while their leaders were attacked and killed the followers scattered until Christianity came to Zaria, as such some of them joined Christianity forming the first Christian community in Wusasa.
The analogy is that if the Holy Bible and the Holy Quoran contains the quaint deeds of this great king, then we’ll need to redefine our traditional beliefs in order to achieve mighty things for God.
According to Dr. C. K. Meek ‘every Jukun household is a religious organization” historically also the Pauline epistles shows that they were written to Churches in households. We can still revive it. God respects the family unit more than our careers. We must come back to defend our home front from pornography, divorce, witchcraft, and the pursuit for deceptive material wealth and start enjoying deep fellowship with our family members.
Americans have no enduring culture; they envy us. All we need to do is make relevant. I was not surprise when I read the following statement from Mr. Walter Carrington former US Ambassador to Nigeria, “we are still hoping that the day will come when Nigeria so blessed by God with abundant human resources will be one of the greatest countries in the world.”
One of the greatest hindrances to change is tradition. We were so proud of our greatness that we didn’t want to accept change. Now we are left behind, far behind. Very far behind.
According to Dr. Myles Munroe, “Change happens to all, even if you refuse to change, change will happen to you, around you and without you. This is the nature of seasons.” Rev. Benjamin E. Mays, a renown educationist says, “He who starts behind in the race of life must run faster or forever remain behind.” George Santayana also warned that “those who cannot remember their past(mistakes) are condemned to repeat it.” According to Fox Charles, “creditors have better memories than debtors” that’s why or creditors are writing down our own history, that we owe the world a responsibility! Every animal, says Bronoski “leaves traces of what it was; while man alone leaves traces of what he created” so we must leave a legacy of a better world.
“we carry within us” says Thomas Browne, “the wonder we see without us; there is all Africa and her prodigies in us.” Will the real men in us stand up? It is not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog.
One day we will wake up in this country to find out that Petroleum is no longer relevant. According to Bruce Bond, “there are only two commodities that will count in the 90s. one is oil and the other is software. And there are alternatives to oil.
We must concentrate on human resource development of which software development is an aspect of. GSM and Computer is basically operating on software technology.
What can be done to determine a bright , enviable future is determined by what some knowledgeable, god-fearing, family-faithful and men of substance do to in order to make the sleeping giant wake up with a mental energy to perform quaint deeds and make Africa have her rightful place among the comity of nations and other continents of the world.
Long live Nigeria! Long Live the Great Kwararafa Kingdom!! Long Live Africa!!!
According to Mavis Claire “One must have enemies in this world, that is, if one makes any sort of position; people without enemies are nonentities. All who succeed in winning some little place of independence must expect the grudging enmity of hundreds who cannot find even the foothold and are therefore failures in the battle of life.”
God bless you all!
